Arun Rante is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX). A seasoned professional with stints in some of India’s respected institutions, his 3 decades plus experience gives him a distinctive blend of grassroots understanding and strategic foresight, enabling him to lead initiatives that drive innovation, inclusivity, and large-scale impact. Before joining NCDEX, he was Executive Director of National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). He has also served on the Boards of Indian Immunologicals Limited, Mother Dairy Fruit & Vegetable Pvt. Ltd., and the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA), contributing strategic leadership at the national level. Prior to that he had a decade long stint with two commercial banks as Senior Director with IDFC/IDFC Bank and Senior Vice President with Kotak, where he played a crucial role in initiatives that bridged rural development with modern financial markets.
His career also spans significant work in the development and development finance sectors, having worked with NABARD and the NGO International Resources for Fairer Trade (IRFT). Representing India on global platforms, he participated as an NGO delegate at the UNCTAD Summit in Brazil and WTO Ministerial Conferences in Mexico and Hong Kong, advocating for fair trade and inclusive development. A respected voice internationally, Mr. Raste has presented papers and participated in conferences across Sri Lanka, Canada, Thailand, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, France, Holland, Japan, Senegal, UAE, United Kingdom and the USA. As a niche writer, and author of two books, his body of work includes over two dozen publications in national and international journals focused on the bottom of pyramid, and various facets of sustainable development. An IVLP scholar, Mr. Raste holds a Master’s degree in Economics and PostGraduate Diplomas in Marketing, Communications, and Journalism, and recently submitted his doctoral thesis to Swiss School.
